The Era of Gatzby

People do not talk nearly enough about how emotionally exhausting higher education can be for Black students. I know someone is going to say that it is for all students, but there are so many additional stressors for Black students.

53% of anti-LGBTQ homicides were transgender Black women*
there, fixed it
ETA: I know with today being TDOR, it is not just WOC who have been killed for existing; I just think with this photoset featuring all Black women, and statistics showing it is in fact most of the time Black transwomen being killed, it should be noted.

At least this results in less confusion and less contamination of black neighborhoods.
Not saying that killing anyone is necessarily a good thing, but black people really have to start abandoning this sexual confusion madness.

^^^^^ look at this transphobic anti black coon. This nigga just consigned the genocide of black trans women because he feels confused about himself. He literally said that black trans people are contaminating black neighborhoods. They are not a disease. They are people. When will you ashy dick niggas realize that if you’re not trying to protect ALL Black lives you are antiblack as fuck and a problem. Fuck outta here.

And Jesus answered them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith (a firm relying trust) and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, it will be done.” (Matthew 21:21, AMP)
We’ve all had seasons when the challenges of life feel overwhelming. During those times, it’s easy to be tempted to talk about how bad things are. Maybe you received a bad medical report, or maybe you’re facing a financial obstacle. The more you talk about something, the bigger it becomes in your mind. Instead, you’ve got to dig your heels in and say, “No, I am not going to give life to that defeat. I am not going to speak sickness over myself. I’m not going to speak lack. I’m not going to speak fear. I’m choosing a different report. I believe the report of the Lord which says, ‘I can do all things through Christ. I can defeat this sickness. I can break this addiction. I can have peace in my home. I can see restoration in my relationships.’ ”
Remember, even if you don’t see how things could ever work out, God does. You’ve got to speak His Word over those mountains in your life and declare favor over those situations. Instead of talking to God about how big your problems are, talk to your problems about how big your God is! As you speak to your mountains, they will be moved, and you will walk forward into the victory God has prepared for you!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I declare that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I speak to the mountains in my life and say, “Be moved!” I declare blessings, favor and victory over my future in Jesus’ name. Amen!

“Begin with the end in mind.”

A simple quote with packs a punch.

Procrastinating?

Write down your end goal and then write everything you need to do to achieve it.

Begin with the end in mind.

Anonymous said: do you have any advice on how to stop tying my self-worth and self-love on my appearance?

yourpersonalcheerleader:

I think that you can feel beautiful both inside and out.

Sounds cliche, but feeling pretty is partially psychological.

I used to struggle to look in the mirror, often not liking the person staring back at me.

I began affirming my appearance by saying

"I am beautiful."

"I have the most gorgeous eyes."

"My face is unique"

"I was wonderfully made with this body"

Soon, I began to see those aspects I had been affirming and today I am able to look in the mirror and genuinely smile.

The happiest people are the prettiest.

Also, it is important to build your self worth and self love as separate entities. Here is a great place to meditate for self worth. Some affirmations they have are:

You are a worthwhile person.

You are capable of achieving many things.

You deserve to be happy. You can be happy even through difficult circumstances.

You can handle the problems that come your way.

You are a strong person… while understanding that no one needs to be strong all the time.

You are an okay person…. a good person.

Your worth is not measured by achievements, appearance, or other external things. You are worthwhile as a person, just the way you are.

You are perfectly alright, just the way you are.

Accept yourself.

Be kind to yourself.

Take good care of yourself physically and emotionally.

You are okay the way you are.

I am a worthwhile person.

I deserve to be happy. I deserve good things.

I am a human being with flaws. It is okay to have flaws.

I am unique, and I appreciate my uniqueness.

I am perfectly alright, just the way I am.

I feel good about myself.

It is okay to like myself.

I am likable.

I have many good qualities.

I am a decent human being.

I do some things wrong and many things right.

I learn from my mistakes, and forgive myself when I make them.

I take time for myself. I deserve this time, and need this time.

I take care of others and I take care of me.

I accept help, support, and love from others.

I am confident.

I hold myself in high regard.

I like myself.

I accept myself.

I am not perfect, and that is okay.

I accept myself.

Hope this begins to help!
